Monroe Man's Child Porn Case Moves To Federal Court

MONROE (AP) — The case of a Monroe man accused of possessing a vast collection of child pornography has moved to federal court.

David Huntley appeared Monday in Detroit federal court, three days after facing state charges in Monroe County. He's accused of possessing and distributing child porn.

A court filing shows Huntley made many self-incriminating statements during interviews last week. Magistrate Judge David Grand sent him back to jail and scheduled a detention hearing for Wednesday.

Huntley will get a court-appointed attorney.

The 52-year-old last week told reporters that he possessed the porn because he wanted to investigate the distributor.

State police are investigating whether Huntley had physical contact with children. He was a substitute teacher until 2003.
