Chuck Norris Fact: He Supports The A-10 'Warthog'

HARRISON TOWNSHIP (CBS Detroit) - Movie star Chuck Norris has joined the fight to save the A-10 Thunderbolt - including those based at Selfridge Air National Guard Base - from the federal budget chopping block.

The fleet of close-support fighter jets, which are also known as the Warthog, are proposed to be retired in the Obama administration's fiscal year 2016 budget proposal.

In a post on WND, Norris stated that if the government has its way the "entire fleet right now runs the risk of landing in the U.S. airplane scrapyard."

He stated in his post that the aircraft - which have been called the Chuck Norris of airplanes - have participated in military operations dating back to Desert Storm, and most recently participated in missions against ISIS.

"My passion to save the A-10 fleet comes from a long lineage of patriots and advocates for the U.S. military, our troops and their families," he wrote.

In addition to writing the post, he also has lent his support to the online effort so Save the A-10.

Norris joins Congresswoman Candice Miller and Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters who are calling on President Obama to keep the A-10 flying.
