Mike Fezzey, Bank Exec Who Led WJR For Years, Dies At Age 58

DETROIT (AP) — Mike Fezzey, a bank executive who led Detroit radio station WJR for 17 years, has died. He was 58.

WJR says Fezzey suffered a heart attack Friday while on a business trip in Florida for Huntington Bank. He joined the bank in 2011 as a regional president in the Detroit area.

Bank spokeswoman Maureen Brown says Fezzey was an "extraordinary member of the Huntington family."

Fezzey worked at WJR for 31 years, more than half that time as president and general manager. He had no banking experience before working at Huntington, but that didn't hurt him.

Huntington executives at the time said they valued Fezzey's business contacts throughout southeastern Michigan.
