31-Year-Old Sterling Heights Man Killed In Utica Road Crash

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - A 31-year-old Sterling Heights man is dead following a t-bone crash on Utica Road Monday morning.

According to police, the man was traveling southbound on Utica near Plumbrook at 6:40 a.m. when his Pontiac Grand Am crashed into an SUV that turned in front of him.

Police said the 58-year-old Sterling Heights woman driving that vehicle, a Ford Expedition, said she didn't see the Grand Am as she turned left heading northbound on Utica — slamming into the man's driver's side door.

Sterling Heights Police Lt. David Smith said the man was killed on impact.

"The driver of the Expedition suffered just some minor injuries; didn't require any hospitalization," Smith said. "It doesn't appear that alcohol or drugs had any factor in the accident."

Utica Rd. was closed between Hayes and Schoenherr Rd. for much of the morning commute for an accident investigation.

It wasn't immediately clear what charges, if any, the woman may face.

No names have been released.
