'There's Just Something About Michigan State And March,' Says Basketball Fan

DETROIT (WWJ) - Michigan State University is now only one of four teams remaining in this year's NCAA men's basketball tournament.

The improbable run by the Spartans has basketball fans entering the arena from all parts of Michigan.

"I watched them all year, despite that fact that I'm a Wolverine ... they were up and down, but they got hot at the end of the season and they've been staying hot in the tournament. There is something about Michigan State and March - they just put it together," said Eric Mueller of Hartland.

Spartans' Win Over Louisville Caps Winning Weekend For Trice

"I think they've been playing as good as any team in the country, I think they can win it all," said Eddie Peters, a fan from Clawson, "and we should have beat Wisconsin three times in the Big Ten tournament but we lost it -- but I'm super happy where the Spartans are now. I'm not taking it for granted."

An overtime win Sunday over number four-seed Louisville allows the Spartans to move on to a game Saturday evening against one-seed Duke. This is MSU's ninth Final Four appearance and seventh under coach Tom Izzo.

Meanwhile in East Lansing, most fans were well-behaved following Michigan State's thrilling win over Louisville.

But police say about ten people were arrested in the hours following the game. Hundreds of students crowded the Cedar Village area.

Several revelers set sweatshirts on fire before police dispersed the crowd.
