Opening Day Rocks! Downtown Detroit's Live Music Guide

Strike out getting tickets to Opening Day? No worries, Detroit Proud is here to make sure your Opening Day is still a home run! Here's a guide to downtown venues where you can catch the game, enjoy some great local live music, and celebrate the start of the 2015 baseball season!

Detroit Home Opener Festival - Madison Avenue Festival Grounds

The last handful of years, the Home Opener Festival has hosted a large number of tailgaters with a plethora of drinks, food, and live music! Local favorites Killer Flamingos will headline this year's acts, along with local DJs Mike Anthony, Prevu, Mike Jones, and MORE!

Detroit Proud spoke to Killer Flamingos bassist, David Gondoly, about the band's Opening Day performance.

What's the best part about performing on Opening Day?

The big tent is a total party, the environment downtown is taken over by people having a good time. It's fun because the bands, DJs, and bar people are in their element during the day. We're vampires, man, we usually don't see the light of day! Downtown is just filled with energy, it's a great time.

What can Detroit Proud readers - who have never seen the Killer Flamingos - expect on Monday?

We're a five-piece band. Four of us sing - there are lots of harmonies. Michelle is our lead singer, she's about as good as you're going to see live. We're a Top 40 cover band, and we play high energy songs - never slowing down. Expect a good time - lots of energy!

Exodus Rooftop - 'Que & Brew

DJ Captn20 has held residencies around Detroit's finest upscale nightclubs and lounges for years and has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in EDM. He brings his high-energy performance to Exodus Rooftop Lounge on Opening Day.

What are you looking forward to the most on Opening Day?

I love the spirit and the vibe downtown on Opening Day.  Everyone seems to be friends with everyone and the streets are filled with people having a great time and embracing the city...and our team!

Is this the year the Tigers win the World Series?

IT BETTER BE! Haha I don't know if the fans can handle another let down.

What can Detroiters expect if they attend the Exodus party?

You can expect great times, great food, great music, with great people, at Greektown's best indoor/outdoor rooftop venue! The party starts at 9am and goes all day! Tickets are still available HERE.
