Granite City To Open Second Metro Detroit Location

NORTHVILLE (CBS Detroit) - Granite City Food and Brewery is expanding its presence in Metro Detroit with Wednesday's opening of its new restaurant and brew-pub in the Northville Park Place development.

The 10,200 square foot restaurant for the St. Cloud, Minn.-based restaurant will seat approximately 300 patrons and feature an outdoor patio with additional seating for 80 people.

"As we continue our expansion into the Michigan market, we're pleased to open metro Detroit's second Granite City Food & Brewery in Northville," said Rob Doran, Granite City Food & Brewery CEO, in a release. "It's an honor to bring our award-winning, hand-crafted beers and made-from-scratch meals to a whole new audience of hungry diners."

The new Granite City, located on the southwest corner of Haggerty and Seven Mile roads, features a modern-designed space with a dining room, three-sided full-service bar, two private dining areas, an open kitchen with a central wood-fried pizza oven and an on-site brewery.

There will also be family restrooms, purse hooks and USB and electrical outlets underneath the bar for tech savvy guests who need to charge their personal electronic devices.

"In preparation for the Northville opening, we created a newly expanded menu to supplement the Granite City favorites fans have come to know and love," said Eric Sredzinski, executive chef of Granite City Food & Brewery in Northville, in a release.

Some of the dishes that will be offered at the new restaurant will include ponzu salmon, pulled pork waffle sandwich and a seasonal menu sourced from local food producers.

The brew-pub also offers a variety of handcrafted beers including an India Pale Ale; a German Bock; an American Lager; seasonal brews created on-site along with other locally-produced Michigan beers.

In addition opening to the public on Wednesday, Granite City will donate 10 percent of each meal purchase to the Northville Civic Concern and assist in its effort fight against hunger.

"Giving back to the communities we serve is very important to us at Granite City Food & Brewery," Doran stated.

The expansion of Granite City is not complete. The brewery is planning on opening a location in the 100 Tower of the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit. An opening date has not been set.
