As a rookie for the Detroit Lions, Kevin Smith ran for 976 yards and added eight touchdowns.

Smith played with Detroit from 2008-2012 after being drafted by the team in the third round (64th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft out of University of Central Florida.

And now, Smith has found himself in trouble.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Smith was arrested Wednesday morning for resisting arrest.

Cops say Smith, who had a suspended license, was involved in a car crash on his former college's campus Saturday and left without providing the police with information.

Cops later found him on campus, and said Smith tried to walk away from the approaching officer. He was "seized" and arrested. The former Lion was charged for driving on a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident.

Smith had returned to UCF to finish up his degree while working as an intern for the football team.

The Orlando Sentinel says Smith "intimidated" the other driver in the collision.

James Strawn, from the UCF Police Department, was the one who spoke with Smith on campus.

When Strawn asked Smith about the incident, Smith said "there was no crash" and refused to sign the citations, according to the arrest affidavit.

Smith said he "had to go" and began to walk away.

"I dropped my paperwork to the floor and seized Mr. Smith, arresting him for resisting/obstructing an officer without violence," Strawn wrote in the report.

As a junior at UCF, Smith ran for more than 2,500 yards.
