DETROIT (WWJ) - A 9-year-old boy who apparently ran away from home after getting into trouble at school has been recovered by Detroit police -- but now he is facing home invasion charges.

Police say Kemina Strawder was arrested Wednesday night after he allegedly broke into a home. Other details weren't immediately released, although police say the boy remains in custody at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention facility Thursday morning.

Kemina was reported missing Wednesday morning after he walked away from his home in the 18500 block of Appoline, in a neighborhood south of 7 Mile and Meyers roads on the city's west side.

Kemina apparently ran away after he was expelled from Palmer Park Preparatory Elementary School, although authorities did not give a reason for the expulsion.

Investigators say the case remains under investigation. More details could be released later Thursday.
