Open Casting Calls This Weekend For 'Zombies'

"The Walking Dead" brought zombies to life -- so to speak -- as actors put on elaborate layers of plastic and blood to look like the undead.

And now you can do it too.

An open casting call is being held this weekend, April 18 and 19, at Allied Productions Studio, 422 Leonard Street NW, Grand Rapids. Casting is inside the rear entrance on the third floor.

From 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, anyone 18 and over is invited to test out their zombie chops. The job is unpaid.

"No need to be in make-up or costume please, this is a casting call," directions say. "Our makeup department and wardrobe department would cover that on set. I'm just looking for people who can take direction and who can pantomime the specific body mechanics for these zombies."

Don't feel like your skills are up to snuff, but still interested? A zombie school is offered prior to the casting.

The zombies are needed for "Sideshow," a five-part horror movie written and directed by Roger Scholz, of Grand Rapids.
