Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Spring is back in metro Detroit -- and so are those dreaded orange construction barrels.

The following road work projects have been announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-696/I-94 interchange:

In Macomb County, the ramps between I-696 and I-94 will close intermittently for maintenance work Saturday between 7 am-3 pm. The scheduled closures are:
-- East I-696 to east I-94 will close 7 am-9 am
-- West I-94 to west I-696 will close 9 am-11 am
-- East I-696 to west I-94 will close 11 am-1 pm
-- East I-94 to west I-696 will close 1 pm-3 pm

I-75:

In Oakland County, I-75 will close at Walton Blvd for a 15 minute period within 6 am-10 am Saturday for utility work.

In Oakland County, I-75 will close between Sashabaw Rd and Clarkston Rd for a 15 minute period within 6 am-10 am for utility work.

In Oakland County, south I-75 between M-15 (Ortonville Rd) and Clintonville Rd will have two lanes closed from 10 pm Friday to 5 am Monday for road work.

In Oakland County, north and south I-75 under M-102 (8 Mile Rd) will have moving double lane closures from 8 am-4 pm Saturday for bridge inspection.

In Oakland County, 12 Mile Rd at I-75 has lane closures through Sat, 5/30 for bridge work.

M-59:

In Oakland County, east and west M-59 between Widetrack and Crooks Rd will have lane closures nightly 9 pm Sat-5 am Sun, 9 pm Sun-5 am Mon, 9 pm Mon-5 am Tues for road work.

In Macomb County, east and west M-59 (Hall Rd) from Elizabeth Road and I-94 will have nightly lane closures from 9 pm Fri-5 am Sat, 9 pm Sat-5 am Sun, 9 pm Sun-5 am Mon for road work.

M-97 (Groesbeck):

In Macomb County, south M-97 (Groesbeck) at M-59 (Hall) will have single lane closures from 9 pm Fri to 5 am Mon for road work.

M-39 (Southfield Fwy):

In Wayne County, north and south M-39 between M-153 (Ford Rd) and McNichols will have moving lane closures from 7 am to 3 pm Saturday for road work. Expect heavy delays.

M-3 (Gratiot):

In Macomb County, north M-3 at M-59 will have single lane closures from 9 pm Friday to 5 am Monday for road work.

I-94/I-69 interchange:

In St. Clair County, Lapeer Rd is closing under I-94/I-69 from 8 pm Thur-6 am Fri AND 8 pm Fri to 6 am Sat for bridge demolition Work. Detour for east Lapeer is Wadhams to Griswold to 32nd Street. West Lapeer detour is 32nd to Griswold to Wadhams.

M-5/Grand River:

In Wayne County, west Grand River at Euclid St has a single lane closure from 7 am Thursday to 5 pm Thursday, April 23 for utility work.

M-10: (Northwestern Hwy)

In Oakland County, north and south M-10 between Nottingham Knoll to Orchard Lake Rd will have single lane closures through June.

M-153 (Ford Rd):

In Wayne County, east Ford Rd from Golfview Drive to Evergreen Rd will have double lane closures from 6 am-6 pm Saturday for marathon.

US-12 (Michigan Ave):

In Wayne County, west US-12 from Evergreen Rd to Brady St will have two right lanes closed from 5 am-3 pm Saturday for marathon.

US-24 (Telegraph Rd):

In Oakland County, north and south US-24 between I-696 and 12 Mile Rd will have multiple lane closures from 9 pm Friday to 5 am Saturday for road work.

M-24 (Lapeer Rd):

In Oakland County, M-24 (Lapeer) will CLOSE between Waldon and Silver Bell for a 15 minute period between 6 am-10 am Saturday for utility work..

In Oakland County, south M-24 (Lapeer) from I-75 to Opdyke Rd will have lane closures daily from 9 am-3 pm from Saturday to April 30 for maintenance work.

In Oakland County, both directions of M-24 (Lapeer) between Drahner Rd and Harriet St will have daily lane closures from 9 am-3 pm Saturday to April 30 for maintenance work.

Construction Continues On...

M-53: (Van Dyke Ave)

In Macomb County, north and south M-53 (Van Dyke) between 14 1/2 Mile and 18 Mile Roads has the left lane closed through Friday, May 15. Also, 16 Mile Road has one lane blocked, leaving only two lanes open in each direction at M-53. And eastbound 18 Mile Road has one lane blocked, leaving only one lane open.

I-75:

In Oakland County, south I-75 from M-15 (Ortonville Rd) to Clintonville Rd has nightly double lane closures through 5 am Friday for construction.

In Oakland County, I-75 at Crooks Rd will have single lane closures daily from 9 am-3 pm through Friday April 24 for construction.

In Wayne County, north and south I-75 under Woodward Ave (M-1) has a single lane closed for M-1 construction over freeway through June 2015.

In Wayne County, north and south I-75 ramps to Oakland Ave and M-1 (Woodward Ave) remain closed until October 2. Detour is northbound or southbound I-75 to westbound McNichols to Oakland Avenue or M-1.

I-375:

In Wayne County, south I-375 ramp to Madison Avenue has one lane blocked intermittently until July 6. There will not be lane closures during downtown events.

M-85: (Fort St)

In Wayne County, M-85 (Fort St) bridge over the Rouge River is closed between Oakwood and Miller Road through Spring 2015.

M-5: (Grand River Ave)

In Wayne County, east and west M-5 (Grand River) near Greenfield Road will have three center lanes closed through April 17 for road work. Expect delays.

US-24:

In Wayne County, south US-24 (Telegraph Rd) from Vreeland and Will Carlton will have single lane closures daily 9am-3pm through April 30 for road work.

M-8 (Davison Fwy)/Oakland Ave:

In Wayne County, south Oakland Avenue over M-8 (Davison Fwy) remains closed until October 2 for bridge work. Detour is south Oakland to west M-8 service drive to the crossover west of M-1 (Woodward) to the east M-8 service drive to south Oakland.

In Wayne County, west M-8 (Davison Fwy) ramp to Oakland Ave and M-1 (Woodward Ave) closed until October 2. Detour is west M-8 to north I-75 to west McNichols to Oakland Ave or M-1.

M-1 (Woodward):
In Wayne County, M-1 between Alexandrine and Kirby streets has multiple lane closures through October for M-1 rail work. Also, M-1 between Adams and Alexandrine streets and between Kirby and Chandler streets, north of Grand Blvd.
