Prosecutors Identify 3rd U-M Frat Member Charged In Vandalism

GAYLORD (AP) — Prosecutors have identified a third University of Michigan fraternity member charged after hundreds of thousands of dollars in vandalism at a northern Michigan ski resort.

Matthew Vlasic was arraigned Monday in Gaylord District Court on a felony charge of malicious property destruction of $1,000 to $20,000 at Treetops Resort in Otsego County's Dover Township. Managers estimate $430,000 in costs from the Jan. 17-18 vandalism.

The Associated Press left message seeking Vlasic's comment Monday night at family homes in suburban Detroit.

Two 19-year-old members of the now-closed Sigma Alpha Mu chapter face misdemeanor charges of letting minors use drugs and alcohol. Chapter president Joshua Kaplan and Zachary Levin return to court Wednesday.

Boyne Highlands near Petoskey says other Michigan fraternity and sorority members also caused damage the same weekend.
