Water Main Break Floods West Side Intersection In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - The flood waters have receded at the intersection of Grand River and Livernois on Detroit's west side--after a water main break Wednesday morning.
Charmese Franklin works at the Sunoco gas station in the area and says it was like a river at one intersection.
"Oh my Gosh, I should have stayed at home today. This is a lot going on, but you know, everything is coming together," said Franklin. "It stopped people's ability to get gas - some people's cars were stopped."
One Detroiter was at the bus top when water started to recede. "This is all like soot and gas and oil -- the guy right there -- he work at the store, the gas station ... he was out here with a broom -- a dollar store broom," he said.
That broom worked reports WWJ's Stephanie Davis as the gas station owner cleared a drain near his store.
At one point the entire intersection was under about two feet of water.
