Missing Detroit Man's Niece Says Stranger Answered Door At His House

DETROIT (WWJ) Police are looking for the public's help finding David Anthony Downey, 58, who suffers from schizophrenia and depression and was last seen May 1, 2015, in the 24000 Block of Puritan.

Downey's niece Nakeia Downey, who is his caregiver, said after dropping her uncle off at home, she has not been able to reach him on his phone or in person.

And the mystery deepened on May 7, when his niece said an unknown woman answered the door and stated that Downey Sr. left and advised her that "she could live there."

Police are investigating. Downey Sr. is described as a black man, 58, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 194 pounds, with a medium dark  complexion, mixed gray hair and beard.
