DETROIT - Detroit Tigers starting pitcher David Price has a mild strain of the right hamstring, the team announced Saturday afternoon. Price had undergone an MRI earlier in the day at the Detroit Medical Center.
Price suffered the injury Friday against the Kansas City Royals, when he stepped on a bat while covering home plate.
The date of Price's next start is yet to be determined.
Early indications, however, are encouraging.
"I spoke to [trainer] Kevin [Rand], he said he looked good and that David felt pretty good about it," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Saturday morning. "He wasn't limping and he had minimal soreness, so that's a big plus."
