4-Year-Old Ann Arbor Boy's Head Grazed By Bullet In Accidental Shooting
ANN ARBOR (WWJ/AP) - A 4-year-old boy was wounded when a gun apparently accidentally discharged and his head was grazed by a bullet in Ann Arbor, according to police.
The child was reportedly shot at his family's home — on Valencia, near I-94 and Stone School Road, on the city's south side— just after 8 a.m. Monday.
Police said the boy was taken to University of Michigan-Mott Children's Hospital in stable condition non-life threatening injuries.
According to Lt. Rene Bush, three other children — two boys and a girl all under the age of 10 — were at the home at the time. They were not hurt.
Bush said police were working to determine whether an adult also was at home, who owned the gun and how exactly the gun was discharged.
She said it wasn't immediately clear if charges would be filed.
"We do have the detective bureau down there trying to sort out all the details of who was there and who was present," Bush said. "But right now the mother is with the child at the hospital."
No names were released.
