Wolverines Announce Addition Of Lyons As Graduate Transfer

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football program announced Monday (May 11) the addition of cornerback Wayne Lyons as a graduate transfer from Stanford University. Lyons will be eligible to compete for the Wolverines this fall.

Hailing from Dillard High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Lyons played four seasons at Stanford University (2011-14) and will graduate in June with a degree in architectural design.

"We are excited about the addition of Wayne Lyons as a post-graduate student and defensive back on our football team," said Michael Zordich, U-M's secondary coach. "He brings great experience and ability to our secondary and special teams units. In addition, Wayne is a super individual who will achieve great things both on the field and in his future career."

Lyons appeared in 43 games for the Cardinal, posting 128 tackles, including 66 solo stops and 4.5 tackles-for-loss. A candidate for the 2014 Lott IMPACT Trophy, Lyons also generated three interceptions, three forced fumbles and three pass breakups during his tenure at Stanford.

Lyons will enroll in the School of Social Work and pursue a master's degree in community organization.
