CBS DETROIT - The Detroit Lions have restructured the contract of veteran safety Glover Quin. Just as the team did last season, it has exercised a right of conversion clause in Quin's contract that allows the team to convert a portion of a player's base salary into a bonus, a move that frees up cap space.

Quin now has a base salary of $745,000 - the veteran minimum for his years of experience - for the 2015 season and a base salary of $4 million for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

The latest NFLPA data lists the Lions with about $4.3 million in cap room, less than all but two teams.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press first reported the restructure of Quin's contract.
