Teen In Custody After Argument Over Loud Music Turns Deadly In Westland

WESTLAND (WWJ) - A 17-year-old Westland teen could be facing murder charges after an argument between neighbors over loud music turned deadly.

Police say the situation unfolded around 2:15 a.m. Saturday at a home on Thames Street, near South Wayne Road and Avondale Avenue in Westland.

According to police, 33-year-old Matthew Green was stabbed when he and the teenager got into an argument.

"It was a dispute between neighbors. It stemmed, the initial reason was because of loud noise, loud music. From there, it erupted," Sgt. Robert Wilkie told WWJ's Lauren Barthold.

Green, of Belleville, was transported to Annapolis Hospital for treatment, where he later died from his injuries.

The teen was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

"He needs to be arraigned, which we anticipate will be done Monday," said Wilkie.

An investigation is ongoing.
