'N Word' House Search Pulls Up White House On Google Maps

By Christy Strawser

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Google maps made waves in Detroit when its plethora of cameras caught a teenager standing on a porch with a gun.

And now another embarrassment has emerged.

Some kind of glitch was discovered where if a user on the Google Maps app types "the N word" house as a destination, one of the most revered places in America pops up as the location desired.

It's the White House in Washington, D.C.

The situation was discovered by Twitter user Bomani X, who told Huffington Post he was tipped off by a Howard University alumni group.

"Some inappropriate results are surfacing in Google Maps that should not be, and we apologize for any offense this may have caused. Our teams are working to fix this issue quickly," a Google spokesperson told CBS Detroit.

House "n-word," a derogatory term for slaves who were chosen to work in the house, also pulls up the White House as the location.

This news coincides with President Barack Obama starting his own Twitter account yesterday, claiming the @POTUS handle and sending out three Tweets, including one to Bill Clinton. He has more than 2 million followers.
