Tigers Place Victor Martinez On 15-Day Disabled List

CBS DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers announced Tuesday that they have placed designated hitter Victor Martinez on the disabled list with left knee inflammation.
Martinez had been battling soreness in the knee for some time. He underwent surgery on it before the season after tearing his medial meniscus. Martinez said he felt a pinch in the knee during Monday's game when he touched first base while trying to beat out a double play.
Martinez, one of the best hitters in the game last season, currently has a batting average of .216 and an on-base percentage of .308.
