Pontiac Man Facing Murder Charge After Double Shooting Victim Dies

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Authorities say a 20-year-old Pontiac man is awaiting charges for allegedly shooting two men -- one of whom died after being found in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said they received a call of shots fired around 1:50 p.m. Thursday in the area of North Johnson and Huron streets. When deputies arrived on the scene, they determined the victim had walked to Doctors' Hospital of Michigan nearby with a gunshot wound to his left arm.

Deputies made contact with the victim, a 19-year-old male, who stated that his brother had also been shot and was somewhere in the area in a white van. The man further stated that he did not know the shooter but that his brother did; that they had picked the suspect up to conduct some business. The man told deputies that the suspect shot his brother inside the van, before turning the gun on him.

The van was located a short time later in an alley between the 100 block of Mary Day and the 100 block of Henry Clay. When deputies looked inside the van, they found 19-year-old Mandral Ross slumped over in the driver's seat with a gunshot wound to his head.

Ross was transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital, where he died Friday afternoon.

The suspect was ultimately identified and located by the Sheriff's Fugitive Apprehension Team in Detroit around 1:30 a.m. The suspected handgun used in the crime was also recovered.

The suspect, whose name was not released, is currently lodged in the Oakland County Jail, pending charges.
