Sheriff: Teen Was Driving 124 MPH Before Deadly Crash On I-94
SHERIDAN TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Investigators say a 16-year-old Albion boy was driving 124 miles per hour when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median on Interstate 94 in southern Michigan and caused a head-on crash that killed three people.
Calhoun County sheriff's Sgt. Dan Latta said Wednesday that the speed information comes from a data recorder on the teen's vehicle. Latta says an investigation continues.
The crash happened Sunday in Sheridan Township, east of Albion.
Authorities say the crash injured the teen driver and two 15-year-old female passengers, and killed 16-year-old passenger Maseo Moore.
Two sisters in the westbound car were also killed, 74-year-old Ella Blackwell of Jackson and 77-year-old Ethel Brinstone of Columbus, Ohio. A 57-year-old Jackson man was also injured.
