Man Critically Injured In Wrong-Way, Suspected Drunk Driving Crash; Police Search For Witnesses

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who might have witnessed a wrong-way, suspected drunk driving crash in Auburn Hills that left one person clinging to life.

The accident happened around 11:45 p.m. Friday on Lapeer Road just south of Brown Road, not far from the Palace of Auburn Hills off of I-75.

According to police, a black Chevy Trailblazer driven by a 21-year-old Burton woman was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Lapeer Road. The woman attempted to turn into a BP Gas Station when her SUV was struck by another vehicle.

Police say a 21-year-old Davison man who was sitting in the Trailblazer's back seat suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, and was transported to McClaren Oakland Hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

The driver of the second vehicle and a front seat passenger in the Trailblazer suffered minor injuries in the crash. Both were transported to local hospitals for treatment and have since been released.

Police say the woman, who was uninjured, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and is currently lodged at the Oakland County jail. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
