Hosmer Passes Cabrera On Latest All-Star Game Ballot

CBS DETROIT - The Kansas City Royals continue to dominate the All-Star Game ballot, with seven players in first place at their respective positions, including first baseman Eric Hosmer, who has surpassed Miguel Cabrera in the voting.
If voting ended Monday, no Detroit Tigers would start the All-Star Game. Hosmer now has a considerable lead over Cabrera, with 3,551,005 votes to 2,933,108.
The only other Tiger in the top three at his position is shortstop Jose Iglesias, who is in second place with 1,819,764 votes behind Kansas City's Alcides Escobar. Escobar leads all shortstops with 3,928,985 votes.
Third baseman Mike Moustakas, designated hitter Kendrys Morales, catcher Salvador Perez, and outfielders Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon are the other Kansas City players slated to be starters.
The only non-Royals currently in first place at their positions are Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said recently, following a previous All-Star Game voting update, that he would get online and vote for Cabrera since Hosmer was closing the gap. Now it appears the two-time MVP will need help from more than just Ausmus if he wants to secure the top spot.
