CBS DETROIT - In his introductory press conference, new Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill did not announce who his assistant coaches will be, but he planned to have that decided by next week.

In the meantime, Aaron Ward of TSN has hinted a former Red Wings great could be included on the staff.

Chelios has spent the past five years as an advisor to hockey operations for the Red Wings. According to his bio on the team's website, Chelios works closely with the front office and the coaching staffs of the Red Wings and the Grand Rapids Griffins. He also helps develop and mentor young players in the organization, per the bio.

Chelios won Stanley Cups with the Red Wings in 2002 and 2008 and also won a championship with the Montreal Canadiens in 1986. He won the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman in 1989, 1993 and 1996 and appeared in 11 NHL All-Star Games.
