2 Men Charged In Fatal Stabbings Of 12-Year-Old Boy, Half Brother

YORK TOWNSHIP (AP) — One of two Michigan men charged with murder in the brutal stabbings of a 12-year-old boy and his adult half brother during a home invasion offered an apology during his court arraignment.

"I'm sorry. From the depths of my heart," Joseph Hall said Friday in Washtenaw County District Court. "I know I can't take it back. But in a heartbeat I would trade places. I don't know what happened. I snapped. And I'm sorry."

Timber Brown and half brother Jon Brown were killed at a house in York Township, south of Ann Arbor, on June 13. Three more people were stabbed, including Timber's mother Vicki Moore.

The group was traveling from Indian River in northern Michigan's Cheboygan County to the Michigan International Speedway in Jackson County's Brooklyn to attend a car race. They became concerned about rain and decided to stay overnight in York Township.

Hall, 25, of Dundee, and Jesse Spurlock, 34, of Monroe, were arrested Thursday.

Hall was arraigned on two counts of murder, three counts of assault with intent to murder and one count of home invasion. Spurlock was arraigned on two counts of murder and first-degree home invasion.

Both were denied bond. Their next court date is July 2. Court-appointed lawyers couldn't be reached for comment.

Vicki Moore was hospitalized in critical condition, friends told The Ann Arbor News.

"I'm numb. The family is feeling numb," friend, Sharon Hush told reporters after Friday's hearing.

Hall's apology "made me sick to my stomach," she said.
