Michigan Teen Who Posed As Gun-Toting FBI Agent Charged As Adult With Taking Car

YPSILANTI TWP. (WWJ/AP) - A 17-year-old accused of stealing a car while posing as an FBI agent has been charged as an adult in Michigan.

Benjamin Lane Lesko was recently arraigned in Washtenaw County on one count of unlawfully driving a car. Authorities say it's possible additional charges could be brought against Lesko. He's accused of taking a Dodge Charger from Cueter Chrysler dealership in Ypsilanti Township in May.

Lesko allegedly claimed to be a federal agent who had moved to the area and needed a car. Police say he grabbed the keys and drove away when employees at the car dealership became suspicious. Lesko was also carrying what appeared to be a firearm on his hip, police said, which was later revealed to be an Airsoft air gun.

Lesko drove the car to the Toledo, Ohio, area, where he crashed. Authorities say he again presented himself as an FBI agent to officers, and was taken into custody.

Lesko was extradited from Ohio last week, where Lucas County juvenile prosecutors dismissed charges of furnishing false information and receiving stolen property. Authorities said they dropped the juvenile charges in favor of Lesko being prosecuted as an adult in Michigan.

According to the Ann Arbor News, Lesko has a lengthy juvenile record; he's been charged in seven different cases since 2012. Among his offenses are false impersonation of a public officer, stalking, unlawful driving away of an auto, receiving and concealing stolen property, larceny, distributing obscene matter and accosting a child for immoral purposes, according to the paper.
