Chevrolet asked social media users to decode the news release and Tweet their responses to #ChevyGoesEmoji. For those who are stumped, Chevrolet will offer a decoder at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

There is also an online ad campaign featuring Norm MacDonald and chronicling his journey through the "Emoji Academy" as he tries to learn to decipher the emoji.

The press release precedes the reveal of the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze, which is the brand's best-selling car around the world with more than 3.5 million vehicles sold.

According to Chevrolet, it will be larger and lighter than the current model and will feature new technologies including the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
