Study: Tigers Fans Among Worst In MLB At Spelling, Grammar

CBS DETROIT - The Wall Street Journal commissioned the proofreading company Grammarly to determine how each MLB team's fans rate in their use of spelling, punctuation and grammar, and Detroit Tigers fans did not come out looking particularly competent.
Tigers fans ranked sixth-worst among fan bases with 11.7 mistakes per 100 words. Struggling even more than Tigers fans were fans of the New York Mets (13.9 mistakes per 100), Philadephia Phillies (13.5), Houston Astros (12.7), Kansas City Royals (12.4) and New York Yankees (12.1).
Grammarly came up with those numbers by reviewing 150 comments on the news section of each team's website, samples that added up to about 10,500 words per team, per the Wall Street Journal.
When Grammarly used the same methodology to study NFL fanbases back in April, fans of the Detroit Lions rated as the best among their peers at spelling, punctuation and grammar.
