Man, Woman Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide At Sterling Heights Apartments

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - A man and woman are dead in what police believe was a murder suicide in Sterling Heights.

Lt. Dave Smith says police were called to Polo Green Apartments, in the 43000 block of Polo Circle, Thursday morning by the couple's adult daughter who was awoken by gunshots and found her father lying on the floor.

"When officers went in, they found a 44-year-old female and a 44-year-old male who were both deceased recently from apparent gunshot wounds to the head," Smith said.

The woman appeared to be the victim in shooting, Smith said, adding that the man and wife were estranged.

"It appears the male...was not staying here. He must have come home sometime last night or early this morning and let himself into the place," Smith said.

Smith said officers had been called out to the residence several times in the past for domestic disturbances.

The woman had personal protection order against her husband, according to police.

The weapon believed to be used was recovered from the scene.

An investigation continues. No names were released.
