"We wanted to add some variety to our drink line, and we knew Vernors was a popular hometown drink, and so we decided to explore opportunities as far as bringing it into about 30 restaurants and testing it out."

Campbell said the response "has been great" and "better than we had expected" since Vernors was added to the drink menu in April.

This is the latest local product to be added to McDonald's menu. Campbell said their restaurants use Michigan eggs, apples and cherries in their products.
