Snapchat Users No Longer Have To 'Tap' To View A 'Snap'

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) -  Snapchat users who have had to deal with cramped thumbs when holding the screen to view a Snap or Story are going to get some relief.

The social media site unveiled a new update Wednesday which allows users the option to tap a Snap or Story and it will play. Previously, users had to tap on the photo and hold it to view a Snap - which could last for several hundred seconds.

Snapchat also unveiled a new friend finder feature called Add Nearby. Users who open Add Nearby will be able see a list of your friends on Snapchat and just need to tap to add.

Users can also personalize their Snapcode, which is similar to a QR code, to add a selfie to the center of their Snapcode. According to the Snapchat blog, the new feature "so that it's easier for friends to recognize you when you add them on Snapchat."

To connect, users take a screenshot of the code.

Previously, Snapchat added a two-factor authentication feature to improve security. If users enable the optional feature, they will need both their password and an SMS code sent to your phone to log into their account on a new device.
