Ford Recalls Focus, Escape, C-Max Vehicles That Continue Running After Keys Removed

DEARBORN (WWJ) - Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety recall for approximately 432,000 vehicles that can continue running after they have been turned off.

The recall includes certain 2015 model year Focus, C-MAX and Escape vehicles for an issue with the body control module.

Ford says its possible for the engines in these vehicles to continue running after the ignition has been turned to the "off" position and the keys are removed. The issue could also happen after the driver presses the Engine Start/Stop button.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

Affected vehicles include certain 2015 Focus vehicles built at Michigan Assembly Plant from June 17, 2014, through June 12, 2015; certain 2015 C-MAX vehicles built at Michigan Assembly Plant from April 22, 2014, through June 12, 2015; and certain 2015 Escape vehicles built at Louisville Assembly Plant from April 1, 2014, through June 12, 2015.

Dealers will update the body control module software at no cost to the customer.
