Prized free agent LaMarcus Aldridge says he has chosen to join the San Antonio Spurs.

Aldridge tweeted the news on Saturday after spending a week meeting with teams as the most coveted player on the market. Aldridge spent his previous nine seasons in Portland, but is leaving for a four-year maximum contract with the Spurs.

He averaged a career-high 23.8 points per game for the Trail Blazers last season.

The Dallas native says on Twitter, "I'm happy to say I'm going home to Texas and will be a Spur!! I'm excited to join the team and be close to my family and friends."

Aldridge was also courted by the Lakers, Rockets, Heat, Mavericks, Knicks and Raptors. But he ultimately chose to join Tim Duncan, coach Gregg Popovich and the Spurs in his home state of Texas.

Yahoo Sports first reported the agreement, which could be worth $80 million.
