AT&T Announces Investment In Detroit Stores

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - AT&T announced Tuesday that it is opening three authorized retailer locations in Detroit.

The company plans to open a new 2,200-square-foot store Wednesday at the Studio One Plaza, 4501 Woodward Ave, in Detroit's Midtown neighborhood. One week later, an 1,800-square-feet in the Shoppes at Detroit, 1347 W. 8 Mile Road, is scheduled to open.

A third store - a remodeled, 1,575-square-foot location at 111 Monroe Street in One Campus Martius - opened June 17.

"AT&T is excited about the positive direction Detroit is headed," said Terence Gergis, director of sales for AT&T Detroit, in a release. "We're honored to be a part of it and to bring an extraordinary experience to those who live in and around the city,"

The new stores feature AT&T products including devices, accessories, and services such as home automation and advanced TV.

This is the latest in an ongoing investment by AT&T in Michigan, and nationwide.

Between 2009-2014 the company has invested nearly $140 billion in its wireless and wireline networks and acquisitions of wireless spectrum and operations.

AT&T has 58 company owned stores in Michigan. It also sells its products and services in authorized retailer locations and select national retail stores.
