Star Wars Fans: This Is The App You've Been Looking For

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Fans of the Star Wars franchise now can download an app that allows them to play sound clips from the franchise, take a selfie on Endor and get the latest movie news on their smart phones.

Disney released the free app Wednesday for iOS and Android devices loaded with a number of unique features previously not available in one app.

The app allows users to choose a theme with the Light Side, Dark Side or droid interfaces which contain different designs, sounds and animations.

On the app home screen, it uses the phone's current location and tracks the weather. Wednesday morning it was 62 degrees in Southfield, with the weather report stating "It's like Endor out there."

The app also provides instant notifications on announcements such as trailer releases and movie news; take and share a Star Wars selfies in various costumes and settings; and take part in lightsaber training game.

Users who download the app can also view official Star Wars videos, learn about Star Wars historical facts and share Star Wars' GIFS.

For those counting, Star Wars Episode VII opens in 162 days.
