After five days and the collective efforts of hundreds of law enforcement and volunteer searchers -- Davidson Township Police Chief Rick Freeman says they are confident that Omarion Humphrey is no longer on the grounds of the Callis Lake Recreational Complex where he was last seen on Saturday.

An AMBER Alert is in effect for Humphrey — who goes by the nickname "Mars." The boy — who is severely autistic and does not talk — was with his foster family at the park, off North Gale Road between Davison Road and Court Street in Davison Township, at around 6 p.m. Saturday.

"Is he in the immediate area surrounding the park? I think that's more realistic - but to be within the boundaries of the park - yes, we've exhausted just about everything we could possibly deploy," said Freeman.

Chief Freeman says it's unclear whether the young boy walked away on his own as a video suggests or if he's been kidnapped as some family members fear.

"I just can't lean either way right now," said Freeman. "The information we have is limited and then with some of the hopes we've had in the investigation ... and by hopes I'm talking about some dog tracks we had during the search, that seemed strong in the beginning and then turned out to be negative. Things like that keep our hopes alive."

While a full-scale search was called off on Wednesday for the boy; police stress they are continuing to investigate as the case remains the department's top priority.

Police say Humphrey's foster and biological families have been cooperative.

The park, which has been closed during the intensive search, is set to reopen on Friday.
