Central Michigan Football Player Dismissed Amid Assault, Attempted Abduction Charges

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Central Michigan defensive back Brandon Greer has been dismissed from the team after being taken into custody on charges of assault and attempted abduction.

The athletic department announced Greer's dismissal Friday. Mount Pleasant police say the 21-year-old Greer has been charged with assault, attempted unlawful imprisonment and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration.

Athletic director Dave Heeke says the situation was thoroughly reviewed. He added: "We take all criminal misconduct very seriously and felt this case warranted immediate dismissal from our program."

Greer has played three seasons for the Chippewas, appearing in 38 games. He had three interceptions last year.
