Saturday Is FREE Slurpee Day

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) -  The only thing better than an ice-cold Slurpee on a sunny, balmy summer Saturday is a free ice-cold Slurpee.

This Saturday, July 11, (or 7-11) only, 7-Eleven stores across metro Detroit and around the country will celebrate their birthday — dubbed "7-Eleven Day"  — with Free Slurpee Day.

Customers can walk in for a free small Slurpee  between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Free Slurpees are available one per person, on a first come, first serve basis at participating 7-Eleven locations —with flavor options varying from store to store.

In other Slurpee news, a Downriver 7-Eleven franchise owner has this week was crowned the first ever "Slurpee Queen" after her store sold more of the frozen beverages than any other in the nation — about 375 a day; 1,000 or so during the summer.[VIDEO HERE].

Have you tried the new Faygo Rock & Rye Slurpee? What's your favorite Slurpee variety?
