Buyers Or Sellers: 5 Things The Tigers Need To Do To Post All-Star Break

DETROIT  - The Tigers had a golden opportunity to narrow the distance between themselves and first place Kansas City Royals just before the All-Star break.

David Price did his part helping the Tigers get a win against the Twins to start the once pivotal 4-game series.

Verlander. Well, he came back strong, and along with some offense, led the team into the ninth inning up five runs ... and then ... well no reason to go down that unpleasant path.

So what will it take for the Tigers to turn up the heat well past the .500 mark through October?

According to WWJ's Sports Reporter Ryan Wooley -- the direction the Tigers organization take will weigh heavily on the next 7-game home stand series.

5. The Tigers become buyers. Ilitch isn't getting any younger and if the Tigers want to win another World Series they need to put some purchasing power behind the team.

4. Buy another closer.

3. Buy a low-end 4-5 pitcher. Kyle Ryan and Shane Greene aren't going to cut it.

2. If they fall further behind after this 7-game home stand - they need to become sellers.

1. David Price is key here. Either wrap up a deal with Price or ship him out.

If these fail we might just want to ask Max Scherzer if he really is enjoying his time with the Nationals.
