Big Crowds Expected At Ann Arbor Art Fair; Park For Free And Hop On The Shuttle

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - It's one of the biggest art fairs in the U.S. -- which means people will be flocking to the Ann Arbor Art Fair this weekend by the masses.

From July 15-18, more than 500,000 people will turn out for this nationally acclaimed event to see amazing artwork, experience music and art activities, and explore eclectic Ann Arbor shops and restaurants.

There are four different fairs: the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, the State Street Area Art Fair and the South University Art Fair.

This year's event features more than 1,000 juried artists spread out over 30 city blocks, displaying a wide range of media from painting and drawing to glass sculpture mixed media, jewelry and more.

With all those people headed for Ann Arbor, traffic is sure to be congested. Free parking and convenient, affordable shuttle services will be offered at two locations.

Free parking for the shuttle service is available near the Sears store at Briarwood Mall, located off of State Street and Eisenhower Parkway; and at Pioneer High School, on South Main Street near Stadium Boulevard.

Two separate shuttle routes will run from both the Briarwood Mall and Pioneer High School parking locations:

• The Main Street shuttle route will drop riders off in downtown Ann Arbor at the shuttle bus stop located at Main and William Streets, next to The Guild's Summer Art Fair.

• The South State shuttle will drop passengers off at South State and Madison Streets, between the South University Art Fair and State Street Area Art Fair and adjacent to the Original Street Art Fair. This stop is also close to the University of Michigan central campus and the Michigan Union.

Shuttle buses return to both Briarwood Mall and Pioneer High from each boarding location at the fair.
