Heatwave Washes Over Metro Detroit This Weekend, Reminds Us Of Anchor's 2,960 Degree Forecast

By Christy Strawser, CBS Detroit

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Listen, it won't melt steel, but it's going to be hot in Detroit the next few days -- very, very hot.

Some are saying with the levels of heat and humidity expected, it's going to feel like a steam bath around town.

And that reminded us of this heat-related weather mishap video you see above, which is an unabashed staff favorite.

We're not your dad, but we would tell you to seek out a cool place this weekend in metro Detroit, possibly a beach or body of water of some kind. Keep the ice maker handy, make sure the fans are in fully working order. If you're lucky enough to have central air conditioning, offer thanks.

"Another thing you're going to really notice is the humidity levels are really jumping," said CBS 62 Meteorologist Jim Madaus, adding the steam bath comparison is apt.

Friday's high is 85 degrees, Saturday's high is 89 degrees, and Sunday's high is 89. Humidity levels will make it feel like the temperature is well into the 90s.

"On Saturday, we'll hit about 90," Madaus predicted. "I call it hot, I don't call it warm anymore."

The weather should stay relatively calm, but a front on Sunday will trigger some showers and storms, Madaus said.
