Troopers Shoot 2 Men After Early-Morning Chase In Flint

FLINT (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say Michigan State Police troopers shot and wounded two men in Flint following an early-morning chase.

State police spokesman Lt. David Kaiser says troopers tried to stop an SUV around 2:25 a.m. Thursday but the vehicle sped away. Another state police vehicle and a Flint police cruiser joined the chase, which lasted about five minutes, according to The Flint Journal.

After eventually being stopped, police say the SUV backed up and tried to hit troopers, who then opened fire.

A 36-year-old Flint man was shot in the wrist and had cuts to his face, while an 18-year-old Flint man was shot in the thigh and abdomen. Police say the wounds weren't considered to be life-threatening.

Four troopers are on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
