ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Authorities say a prisoner who escaped from a hospital in Ann Arbor has been found and is now in police custody.

According to reports, the man was receiving treatment in the emergency room at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital when he took off on foot -- his hands still shackled in cuffs.

After the escape, police swarmed the surrounding area in search of the prisoner, described as a white male in his 20s wearing a black tank top.

Eventually, officers found the man and he was taken back into custody, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Other circumstances weren't released.

It wasn't immediately clear what the man was receiving treatment for, or why he was originally arrested.
