Detroit’s Satanic Statue Unveiled Before Hundreds Of Revelers [VIDEO]

This past Saturday, a group unveiled an 8-foot-tall statue of the Satanic Temple’s Baphomet in Detroit.

The sold-out event, which sold tickets for $25, took place at an undisclosed industrial building downtown, drawing an estimated 700 people. The location was kept a secret because of the threat of religious protests.

“Guests were washed in red light shining down from the rafters at the venue as “dark punk” bands played and DJs performed from a stage located beneath a lighted, upside-down crucifix. Satanic Temple officials delivered speeches and a pair of shirtless men held candles on either side of the statue, prior to its unveiling,” according to FOX News.

Despite a no photography policy at the event, a six-second Vine has surfaced of the great unveiling.

It’s, uh, interesting to say the least.

Attendees were forced to clear two security checkpoints at separate locations before arriving. Nonetheless, opponent Matt Pearson, executive producer of Church Militant, discovered the location at Chene Park in downtown Detroit.

Pearson transported a statue of St. Michael the Archangel in a pickup truck. Upon locating the unveiling, they lit up the statue in protest.

CBS Detroit reports the Satanic Temple hopes the statue would eventually reside outside Arkansas’ statehouse, to be positioned next to a Ten Commandments monument scheduled at the same location.

The Detroit statue is expected to be kept out of view for its own safety until it’s moved to a more secure spot.
