ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) - Authorities say a tip led police to a home in St. Clair Shores where they found several stolen motorcycles, one stretching back to 1973.

The investigation unfolded on July 21 when police, acting on a tip, recovered a stolen motorcycle from a home in the 21000 block of Elaine Street, in a neighborhood near 9 Mile Road and Harper Avenue.

Police contacted the Macomb Auto Theft Squad for help in identifying the motorcycle, and found that the bike's identification numbers had been ground off. However, a major component part had been reported stolen in Mobile, Alabama in 1973.

Detectives prepared a search warrant and returned to the home on July 22, where they located five other stolen motorcycles in the garage. Police say those motorcycles had been reported stolen from St. Clair and Lapeer counties.

The homeowner, Michael James Falbo, was arrested and charged with six counts of receiving and concealing stolen property. Each charge carries a potential jail term of five years and a $10,000 fine or three times the value of the motor vehicle, whichever is greater.

Falbo was arraigned on the charges last Friday at 40th District Court and was released on a $25,000 personal bond. He is due back in court on August 18.

Police say an arrest warrant has been approved for a second individual in connection with this same case. However, that suspect has not been arrested yet.

An investigation is ongoing.
