Crews Search For Boater Missing After Rescue Attempt

ARGENTINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say they're searching for a boater who is missing after trying to rescue two girls at a lake in Genesee County.

Argentine Township police Detective Doug Fulton says 44-year-old Thomas Kelly was on a boat that was pulling two girls on a tube Sunday on Lobdell Lake when the tube flipped. The Flint Journal reports Kelly jumped into the water along with an aunt of one of the girls.

Police say the girls were rescued and the aunt was pulled out of the water, but Kelly didn't resurface.

Crews searched Sunday night, but they left the water due to severe thunderstorms that hit the area. They're returning to the water Monday.
