Operations Back To Normal After Gas Leak At Fiat Chrysler Stamping Plant In Warren

WARREN (WWJ) - Officials say everything has returned to normal at the Fiat Chrysler Stamping Plant in Warren after a forklift operator sparked a gas leak.

The situation unfolded around 7:30 a.m. Thursday in the assembly portion of the plant, located along Mound Road between 8 Mile and 9 Mile roads.

Fiat Chrysler spokesperson Jodi Tinson said an employee was operating a Hi-Lo when the worker struck a natural gas line, creating the leak.

"The fire department responded and the plant was able to shut the valve off on the gas line, but we were asked to move our employees in that section of the building, which is the assembly section, over to the press line for their safety," said Tinson.

Warren Fire Chief David Frederick said the building was aired out and by 9 a.m., workers were allowed back into the assembly portion of the plant.

No injuries were reported.
