Dog Described As 'Pit Bull Mix' Bites 9-Year-Old Girl In The Face

WARREN (WWJ) -- A 9-year-old girl is in stable condition after she was bitten in the face by a neighbor's dog on Friday.

Warren Police Sgt. William Reichling said the girl was attacked while playing in the front yard of a friend's house near 8 Mile and Hoover on Friday afternoon.

"The officer arrived and found that a pit bull-type dog had attacked a 9-year-old girl," Reichling said. "We're not going to release the name of the girl because she's a 9-year-old -- she's just a juvenile."

Reichling said the victim had accidentally tripped over her friend when the girl's family dog attacked.

"The victim and the neighbor girl were playing," Reichling said, "apparently there was something going on with the girls and the dog where the victim tripped and fell over the girl...that's when the dog bit the victim."

The girl is in stable condition at St. John's Hospital.

The dog is being kept at Animal Control while Warren detectives investigate the incident.
